Fall Colors 2012

We are all still enjoying the summer heat but here is a quick preview on the hottest colors for the coming season. There are some colors that are Fall favourites always but with some variations in hues like the french roast, honey gold, tangerine tango. But this season has some rich colors like the ultramarine green and the Olympian blue and surprise color pink Flambe as well as pastel shades like rhapsody and rose smoke and neon color Bright Chartreuse.

Fall is my FAVORITE season and I cant wait to mix and match the hottest colors of the season.

Using these colors for home decoration as well is something I plan on doing. Will surely post pictures of both outfits and home decor incorporating these colors. Watch out for this space!!!

Justice!!

Today I was browsing through some news from India and i came across this news item about a murder of a teenage girl in 2008 in Noida, India. A lot of us indians must be aware of the same. The child's name is Aarushi Talwar.

Here in the USA, I notice that a child whether a victim or otherwise is never exposed like the photo is never published, but this poor girl's photos are all over the internet, her character has been assassinated by one and all, be it the police, the media, the politicians!!

The case has been made out to be a circus of sorts with the police pinning the murders from one to another and when they don't find anyone, the father keeps getting blamed but i was taken by surprise today(i shouldn't be i guess) to find that now both the parents are on trail for the murder of their daughter and their male servant without any conclusive evidence.

How can parents ever kill thier own daughter and so brutally even and for the last 4 years keep denying the same after numerous poly test, narco tests and what not. How are the police almost saying that the ca isse dead, that they do not have conclusive evidence on anyone and then reopen the case and just blame the parents for lack of any other evidence.

The case being open, its not fair to assume who is the killer but my heart goes out to the parents coz my heart just doesn't believe that they could kill their own daughter.

I wish justice prevails and that the real perpetrators are caught and given the capital punishment.

Day 07 → Someone who has made your life worth living for.

My mom, dad, sister, dance ma'am and now A

I have had a wonderful childhood. There has not been one thing that i thought pf sometimes dint even think of and my parents have not done it for me. My mom has always been there for us when we came home from school and my dad dropped us off and picked us up from school.

My mom somehow saw that i loved dancing and they started my dance classes when i was seven and since then wherever my dance teacher went they took me there and never said its too far, its too much work for us, no! they let me become a good dancer and my dance teacher who not only taught me how to dance but also taught me so many life lessons like passion, dedication, hardwork, belief in miracles, God and much much more.

My mom and dad have encouraged me to do all that i wanted to do in life, yet there was never any pressure to perform, excel, no they let me blossom the way i wanted to and thats what has made such a difference in my life. The acceptance of all the good and the bad in me was taken so positively, they let me build my own personality. Yet i always remember, how my dad would tell everyone he met about all the small achievements that i had.

My sister has taught me that i love another person as much as i love myself, completely selfless kind of love. The art of sharing, being there for each other, companionship and so much more. She is so good with all kinds of kids, i am sometimes amazed at the maturity of this girl who acts like a kid herself most of the times :)

A, who probably loved me since they very first time we met and did a class together and now that we are married, he tries and does so much for me even though its been so hard for me sitting at home and being alone for the first time in my life.  But everything is forgotten when he comes home each evening and smiles his dimpled smile and gives me a hug and many many small things that he does for me everyday, though i never tell him how much i appreciate him, i hope he knows i do and that i love him :)

Love you all and i miss my mom, dad, sis and ma'am so much at times.

Love,
Minal

Day 06 → Something you hope you never have to do.

I am not feeling too good today as a few things have happened that have not been pleasant and I have no clue why i feel like writing this post today. when things go wrong we always feel that we get through it unscathed but sometimes by the time the bad things get over, we lose a bit of her happiness forever.

Something that i hope i never have to do is never have to see my loved ones suffer through an illness or disease.

long sleeve tshirt - Loft, 3/4 sleeve cotton sweater - H&M, Jeans - Macys, Shoes - Aldo

p.s: Sorry couldnt get a good photo.

Day 05 → Something you hope to do in your life.

We always have dreams and goals that we hope to achieve, that's what keeps us truly alive I guess :)

I have always wanted to travel all over the world and one thing that i hope to do is have someone i love and lots of money and travel non-stop for six months all over. I hope A and myself can save up all that money and take 6 months off from our routine lives and just travel. Yes i wanderlust!!

Day 04 → Something you have to forgive someone for.

I generally move on if something unpleasant happens and try and forget if anyone does anything that i feel is wrong or unfair to me. But i haven't been able to forgive some people associated with my earlier employment as after having worked diligently and loyally for almost 5 years, when i needed a transfer so as to work for the same place in a different country, they did not give it to me and i have been unemployed since then and its been the hardest phase of my life and I am still living it and therefore i guess unable to forgive them.

Day 3 - Something you have to forgive yourself for.

Many people are afraid to forgive because they feel they must remember the wrong or they will not learn from it. The opposite is true. Through forgiveness, the wrong is released from its emotional stranglehold on us so that we can learn from it. Through the power and intelligence of the heart, the release of forgiveness brings expanded intelligence to work with the situation more effectively. -- David McArthur & Bruce McArthur

and forgiving oneself is the hardest.

I want to forgive myself for all the times that i have been hard on myself and cried myself to sleep, for making things more miserable than they actually were. For at time willowing under the sorrow and not looking at the rainbow at the horizon. I want to learn that all things have a happy ending and that time, whether good or bad is always temporary.

Love to myself!!

Hope you all enjoy reading my thoughts :)

Minal

Day 2 - Something you love about yourself.

Sometimes I guess its harder to say what you love about yourself than saying what you hate about yourself.. Anyways, I am going to try :) so here goes..

I love that I have a lot of love to give to anyone and everyone and feel compassionate towards all and sundry. It makes me a fragile person at times but as much real as real can be..

I love love my fingers and how beautiful they are.. I always get compliments that my hands are so beautiful and they bring me so much joy..

I love that i am a dancer and no matter what, have never been too away from pursuing dance, yes at times, i have always needed a push from someone or the other, but the dedication and passion towards the art form has always been there..

Love that i am smart, that if i want to know or learn something, its never beyond my reach and that i can always achieve what i set out to achieve

Love that i am a person of habit and good habits never leave and i generally stay away from habits that are bad.

Love that i can read people and imagine their lives, what they are thinking, what they are felling by generally observing them for a while and later if ever i have come to know them, i have been amused that i was not off mark and that most things i imagined were true.

Love that i have had a great childhood, loving parents and a great sister as a sibling and friend and i appreciate that more and more each day that i have been so blessed.

Oh how i love myself! Isnt that very apparent from this post :)

Thanks for reading this post and the others in this series. Hope you like them.

Love,
Minal

Day 1 - Something you hate about yourself..

Its been ages since i posted last and so many many things have happened (most of which were very unpleasant) that i just dint feel like writing anything. Things have not yet gotten better but hopefully soon will.

Hate is a word that i rarely use as i don't really think you can hate anything or anyone for that matter. So what can i hate about myself?? So here i go...

I hate the fact that i am not a go-getter, never have been. My mom used to always tell me when i was in school, that if only i studied, i would be the best student in class, and i would always say big deal, that doesn't matter. Its continued throughout, be it in my job, my passion of dancing. I always feel, that if something has to come to you, it will, you do not have to try so hard.

I hate the fact that i have a big heart and people always seem to be taking advantage of it. Even when i keep myself in the background and do something for someone, they never see it unless i tell them that.

That i am lazy. I have so many creative ideas, so much in my head and i never go about doing much about it, like this blog too which i have left alone for so many months now.

I hate the fact that i do not know how to talk and talk and talk some more, because i have realized that people who can talk, can get their way in anything and somehow just because i am not able to say much, i get left behind.

When i am angry and say things that i dont mean at all. As a child and even now, sometimes i just cant control my anger and end up hurting people whether intentionally or not.

The fact that even though i know, i am capable of something, i am unable to show my confidence which sometimes makes other people assume that i am unworthy of the same, which may not be true, if only i appeared confident!!

The fact that i am dancer, and a good one at that :) but cannot sing. Just cannot sing. period!! how i wish i could sing??

I hate that i do not keep in touch with my friends, extended family as we all need someone to turn to at times, but i just cannot pick up the phone and talk or just keep in touch sometimes. Wish i could really make that effort.

I can go on, but i guess these are the major things i hate (cringing at the word, just don't like using it) about myself.

Thank you for reading. Come back to read somemore tomorrow.

Love,
Minal

Princess!

I am a princess!! my dad's princess :)

Anyways, all that everyone is talking about these days is the Royal Wedding! Today, the monarchy in England has been reduced to just celebrity status and nothing more. An ordinary girl Kate Middleton is going to marry the prince and become the princess. Every girl's dream come true.

Most of all that's being discussed is her dressing sense which is surely trendy but yet subtle and classy. Here are a few of her outfits that i loved and though i love her hats and hair accessories, i don't think its an everyday look.

Formal Looks:

Outfit: 1, 2

A informal outfit i loved -

So is everyone attending the Royal Wedding?? (thru your couch and tv of course)

lazy Sunday...

perfect weather and we are sitting at home and A is working!! what a disaster of a sunday... I know, i know, pitfalls of marrying an accountant..

I so feel like dressing up and going out to Newyork. Just read an old old fortune cookie i had received on FB, not really a fortune but quite good - "The people who are late are always happier than people who have to wait for them" So completely true :)

If we do dress up and go out, ill surely post the outfit out for all to see.. Wish me some luck!!

Thank God its Friday

About a month back we had gone to Washington to see the cherry blossoms which bloom once every year. It was an amazing drive to washington as that day was the Cricket world cup final between India and Srilanka.. Bless my iphone that we could watch the whole match as we were travelling and INDIA won!!! after 28 years...

A 'Walk in Clouds" is what we overheard a couple saying and i completely agree.. it was one of the prettiest gardens, like they say heaven will be.. Here are a few photographs of that little heaven..

... and i forgot to add A had an amazing time kite flying.. brought his childhood back for him i guess.. here's a picture of him...

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
